Comedy Divas was founded out of love. Love for comedy, love for women and love for women of color in Comedy. In 2012 Comedy Divas burst onto the scene with a sketch comedy video spoofing Basketball Wives that went viral on Youtube, Funny or Die and Worldstar. While continuing to produce sketches Comedy Divas soon introduced a limited series called “Oh No He Didn’t” followed up by a short film called “Gurl Talk” which made its debut at the historic Pan African Film Festival. After a hiatus the platform was rebranded and relaunched in 2022 highlighting brilliant black female stand-up comics making an immediate splash on YouTube with over 100K followers and Instagram with over 200K followers and the numbers are constantly growing. The feedback has been tremendous and comics all over the world have reached out with their support of the Comedy Divas movement. It is currently the largest platform to exclusively showcase black female stand-up comedians.
